What is Freedom To Learn (FTL)?FTL is a Back to TopWhy is FTL Needed?There is not a single organization in NC that can represent the interests of Christian education to the NC General Assembly or in Washington, D.C. Back to TopWho will oversee FTL?As a 501(c)(4) political organization, FTL will be subject to current state and federal laws for such organizations. In addition, the board of directors of FTL is made up of administrators of Christian ministries located in each region of NC. Back to TopWho will staff FTL?Initially, the office staff will be provided by
the NCCSA. As ministries
join FTL, a separate office will be set up.
Based on the growth of FTL, additional staff be added to
include but is not limited to secretarial, IT, administrative,
research, etc. Lobbying
services will be contracted for both NC and in Back to TopWhat if our ministry is already a member of another organization?FTL encourages you to maintain your current memberships and affiliations and will not be a threat to those entities. Back to TopHow can our ministry afford to pay current associational membership dues and join FTL at the same time?A funding method has been designed to provide the SchoolCast (see below) program to your ministry which will allow you to join FTL without any general fund expenses to your ministry and will actually provide another revenue stream for you. Back to TopHow will FTL communicate with our ministry?Several state of the art rapid communication methods will be used including the FTL website, FTL email communications and direct mail when needed. In addition, FTL will have the ability to contact members by cell phone or text messages in the event of the need of immediate response or action. What kind of issues will FTL be involved in?Religious liberty, education, religious childcare, parental choice, free speech and hiring practices for ministries, protection against loss of 501(c)(3) status, morality, etc. What is SchoolCast™?SchoolCast™ is a web-based rapid emergency alert and notification system that enables you to reach parents, faculty and staff, emergency contacts, guardians, first responders, and the media within moments through a variety of current communication methods including: landline, cell phone, text message, email, PDA, pagers, and fax machines. The non-emergency use of SchoolCast™ provides you a quick and efficient method to reach all or select members of your ministry for any of your notification needs such as, busses running late, cancellations or delays, reminders of events, holiday reminders, or weather related closures. Parents will be grateful for the peace of mind for providing this added level of security and notification. What does FTL cost my ministry?FTL is funded by a one-time application fee for new members and the $10 annual membership fee for each student and staff member in each school or religious childcare. How much can I charge my parents for SchoolCast™?Ministries typically charge parents from $1 per month to $25 per year (some have a slightly higher family fee) for SchoolCast™ . In this way, you will generate extra income for your ministry and still have the funds to pay your annual membership fees to FTL. Back to Top
